ALOR STAR, MALAYSIA: Seven-year-old Muhammad Amir Amri, the Year One pupil who was punched and slashed by a bully over 50 sen on Monday, is recovering.
His father, Amri Rod Jamil, 41, said Amir had started to play with his friends in their Lorong Bendahara neighbourhood. He had been warded for a day at Sultanah Bahiyah Hospital.
"My son will start schooling next week. Despite his injury, I am grateful that he is recovering.
"I'm also grateful because he is not traumatised by the incident and says that he is eager to go back to school.
"I just hope such a thing will not happen to other pupils," he said yesterday.
Amri said two teachers came to visit his son yesterday.
On Monday, Amir was punched in the face and slashed in his private parts with a penknife by a classmate.
He was attacked by the bully after he refused to give him 50 sen (S$0.20).
