I REFER to the report 'Foreign talent in schools raises eyebrows' (The New Paper, 13 Aug).

Why is there such a fuss over foreign students taking part in school activities and helping to win medals for their schools?

Why do Singapore parents feel that it's unfair?

Singapore parents have to realise that competition is healthy, and it is good for the kids to push themselves and see how good they can be with this competition.

Parents should learn to be more open, and not mollycoddle their children too much.

As it is, it is rare to find kids in Singapore today running under the hot sun, playing and sweating without complaint, falling down with a few cuts and quickly getting up without crying and complaining.

We don't want our kids to grow up in air-conditioned shelters away from the realities, challenges and competition that life poses.

So let's not complain, and instead, be supportive.

Take foreign competition as motivation for our children.
