MY SON is in the National Football Academy and I would like to bring an important issue to the attention of the Football Association of Singapore (FAS). Why is a football tournament still on during final-year examinations, when some boys are sitting for their O- and N-level exams? The FAS should understand the importance of boys focusing on preparing for their exams.
On Oct 19, one Under-15 player broke his shin after colliding with a goalkeeper during an invitation game at Jalan Besar Stadium. Now, the poor boy will be out for six months and may not be able to sit for his final-year exams.
Is it right to play invitation games during the exam period?
Another issue I would like to bring up is physiotherapists.
In a game between the National Football Academy U-16s and Singapore Armed Forces U-18s, we noticed there was no physiotherapist covering the game. Instead, the FAS sent another employee to cover as physiotherapist.
This is totally wrong. According to FAS management, this was standard operating procedure, but I do not think so.
