Kids benefit from strong language foundation

my paper

I REFER to the letter, "Daughter enjoys Chinese, thanks to Primary 1 teacher" (my paper, Nov 20).

I would also like to share my daughter's experience with learning Chinese.

She was a pupil in class 6A at Nan Hua Primary School and completed her Primary School Leaving Examination (PSLE) last year.

Ever since I enrolled her in a Chinese-language enrichment course at the Jurong East branch of Xue Ni Language Centre, she has grown to enjoy learning Chinese.

I am glad that my daughter is able to enjoy Chinese and express herself well in writing as well.

I would like to encourage parents to build a strong foundation for their children in languages, whether it is English or Chinese.

Once children are interested in the language, they would be able to do well.

The love for the language would help them in their future endeavours as well.
