Malaysia is expected to propose that Asean countries make education accessible to everyone.

Deputy Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin, who leads the Malaysian delegation to the 45th South-East Asian Education Ministers' Council Conference (Seamec) beginning today, is also expected to use the opportunity to exchange views with his counterparts on developing the education system in Malaysia and discuss issues being championed by Malaysia.

Malaysia will also propose that a Conference to Promote Awareness of Education for Girls and Women, be held from July 11-15 this year as part of the efforts to make education accessible to everyone, said a statement issued by the Malaysian Education Ministry here yesterday.

Muhyiddin, who is also Education Minister, is scheduled to discuss this after the Southeast Asian Ministers of Education Organisation (Seameo) secretariat presents its progress report on the Seameo Collaborative Project to Reach the Unreached in South-East Asian Countries and Achieve Education For All (EFA) Goals by 2015.

The ministry said another effort proposed by Malaysia under the Seameo collaborative project is a regional seminar aimed at implementing transition support programmes and gathering data on disabled children of schooling age.
