A 15-year-old girl who has been reported missing for the past six days is believed to have married and is living in Kuala Krai in Kelantan, Berita Harian reported.

The family of Halimaton Abd Rashid, a top student from SMK Parit Panjang, Kedah, believe that the girl married a 19-year-old from Langkawi.

Halimaton, who scored 5As in her UPSR examination in 2007, had supposedly told her mother Normah Abd Mutalib, 46, via SMS that she was getting married but did not state who the man was.

The news shocked Normah, who said her daughter was only 15 and was supposed to sit for her Penilaian Menengah Rendah (PMR) examination this year.

The girl?s granduncle, Ahmad Omar, 43, was quoted as saying that her name appeared in the marriage registry list in Golok, near the Kelantan-Thai border.

He believed that Halimaton had eloped with a man known as Adam from Langkawi before marrying him in Golok.

?Halimaton is a brilliant student. She should be equipping herself with knowledge and not be swayed by a man?s persuasion,? he was quoted as saying.
