In the 26-second clip posted on the Internet, the boy was seen hanging from outside the balcony. The image then shifted to four boys standing along the corridor and holding on to the boy's leg.
It was only when someone was overheard shouting to them to stop the "game" that the four students pulled the boy back to safety.
According to a Shin Min Daily News report, the students were from an Institute of Technical Education (ITE) in Singapore, and the clip was posted on online portal OMY.
The Chinese daily reported that in the video, the students appeared to search through the boy's pockets for something, and removed some documents from his pocket.
The boy was seen arguing with the other students and tried to avoid being searched. There was a brief scuffle before the students then hoisted the boy over the parapet and dangled him by the legs.
Hearing the boy's terrified screams, the students then pulled him back up onto the railing, but continued to frisk him. At the end of the video, the students allowed him back on the corridor, and returned the items to him.
When contacted by Shin Min, a spokesperson for the Institute said that they would investigate the matter to verify the authenticity of the video, before deciding on further action to be taken.
