PUTRAJAYA: Those who own the sex DVDs featuring Datuk Seri Dr Chua Soi Lek should either throw them away or crush them and stop talking about the scandal altogether, said Wanita MCA chief Datuk Dr Ng Yen Yen.
She said the DVD, which led to Dr Chua's resignation from Cabinet and all his party posts on Wednesday, was a very "demeaning way" of exposing one's private life.
"I call on everybody to stop talking about this matter and give Dr Chua and his family time to undergo a healing process," she said.
"Malaysians cannot afford to have a situation where they are always wondering who is taping them.
"I dare say no one thinks that everyone is perfect. But Dr Chua is a courageous man and has taken responsibility for his behaviour by coming out and admitting it and apologising to the people."
In Kuala Lumpur, Education Minister Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Tun Hussein said: "He made the right decision. What is wrong is still wrong.
But, as a friend and colleague who has known him for a long time, I feel sad over his absence in the Cabinet and party.
"I admire and respect his stand."
In Penang, Gerakan acting president Tan Sri Dr Koh Tsu Koon said Dr Chua's resignation was a "great loss" to the country.
Describing the resignation as "very unfortunate", Dr Koh said Dr Chua was an "effective minister" who showed "strong leadership" by stepping down.
