KLUANG: Johor MCA has appointed its former chairman Datuk Seri Dr Chua Soi Lek as an advisor.

Acting chairman Tan Kok Hong, who chaired his first meeting Sunday, said the decision to appoint Dr Chua was made with the full support of all Johor MCA liaison committee members.

Dr Chua resigned as Health Minister and Labis MP and all his party posts on Jan 2 after he admitted to being the man in a sex video.

Dr Chua said he would continue to help Johor MCA and all party candidates in the next general election to ensure the party continued to remain as a Johor Barisan Nasional fortress.

He said he did not want his resignation over a personal issue to cause a split in Johor MCA and pledged to continue to serve the state party.

"We must work hard to convince the people, especially the voters, to continue to give their support to Johor MCA.

"I have discussed with party president Datuk Seri Ong Ka Ting and Johor Barisan chairman Datuk Abdul Ghani Othman on ways to ensure the state party remains strong," he said after the meeting on Sunday.
