KOSMO! exposed the availability of abortion pills at private maternity clinics.

In its exclusive front-page story, the newspaper disclosed that for only RM50 worth of pills, a foetus could be easily aborted and that many unmarried, pregnant girls had resorted to this.

This said the paper saved the girls the embarrassment, pain and even money they would otherwise need for an illegal abortion.

The cost of six pills was RM50 and taken over three days, a girl could get rid of an unwanted pregnancy, without anyone knowing. All they needed to do to obtain the pills was to inform the doctor that they did not have their period.

A Kosmo! reporter who went undercover on the pretext of buying the abortion pills for his girlfriend said the doctor just asked simple questions like the age of the girl and why they wanted the pill.

The newspaper also interviewed a few girls who had successfully used the pill, some even a number of times.

A gynaecologist by the name of Dr Mahinder said the pill caused "shocks" to the uterus and made it dislodge the embryo.

The newspaper interviewed a few gynaecologists who admitted they were aware of the abortion pill being in circulation.
