BEIJING, CHINA - A CHINESE court has sentenced a primary school teacher to death for raping 23 school girls, the Beijing News reported.
Zhou Chengchun, 52, a teacher in south-west China's Chongqing municipality, was accused of targeting the 23 girls between 2001 and 2004 under the pretence of helping them with their studies, the newspaper said on Tuesday, citing local media.
'Zhou told the girls to cooperate, saying it would make them more brilliant and make their studies much better,' the report said.
The report did not give the victims' ages.
In January, a former national legislator in the central province of Henan was sentenced to life for raping dozens of school girls after a fortune teller advised him to have sex with virgins to improve his health and business. -- REUTERS
