Love rival faces ire of Korean star

KOREAN police are investigating an assault allegedly committed by actress Lee Min-young.

It would be the second time that Min-young, 31, is being involved in a violence case.

She was allegedly the victim in a previous case in 2006.

The Korea Times reported that Min-young allegedly visited the house of a 25-year-old woman in eastern Seoulon Monday morning and assaulted her.

The woman told police that she was at home with her boyfriend when Min-young came in and hit her without reason.

The woman claimed that Min-young was jealous that they were together.

She said Min-young and the man dated for a while last year, but had broken up.

The police asked Min-young to help in investigation that evening.

But her mother and lawyer appeared instead, claiming Min-young was beaten, not the woman.

According to Yonhap News, Min-young's mother said the woman called Min-young early in the morning and demanded money.

She had threatened to disclose a video clip which is believed to carry sex scenes involving Min-young.

Min-young visited the house to protest, but the woman beat her, Yonhap quoted the mother as saying.

But the police said Min-young's side did not talk about the video clip.

In Dec 2006, Min-young was allegedly beaten up by her former husband, actor Lee Chan, 31.

She claimed that as a result, she had a broken nose and a miscarriage. Soon after, they ended their 12-day marriage.

She said that she had gone through the wedding ceremony with him only because she was pregnant.

The beating apparently happened when the two got into a bitter argument while driving home from their honeymoon.

However, Lee Chan had denied all her claims, saying that he had only slapped her.

He insisted the fight started after his wife said to him, 'You've only become famous, thanks to me'.

He started to slap her, and she slapped him back. He claimed that she called him a few days later to say that the marriage was over and that she was getting an abortion.
