WELLINGTON - A WHITE powder was found in a parliament building housing the offices of New Zealand Prime Minister Helen Clark on Wednesday, prompting a partial evacuation.

An entire floor in the executive wing, the Beehive, housing staff in the department serving the prime minister and the cabinet, was cordoned off and was being decontaminated.

Ms Clark's office is on a different floor and she was not in the building at the time.

A spokesman for Ms Clark told Reuters the white power was found in an envelope, but there was no detail on whom it was addressed to.
