Police seize 7 tons of food without expiry dates
Mon, Nov 24, 2008
The Jakarta Post, ANN

>Police have confiscated five tons of kway tiao (Chinese noodles) and two tons of chicken nuggets, worth a total of Rp 30 million ($3,810), from a company's warehouse in Andir in Bandung, West Java, because the products did not carry expiry dates.

Andir Police chief Adj. Comr. Fahmi Reza, said Sunday that Afdillah, the owner of trading company PD Maslahat, had been named a suspect.

"It's an intolerable mistake. The owner has violated the consumer protection law," he said as quoted by Tempointeraktif.com.

Fahmi said the police had not arrested the suspect as the investigation was still ongoing.

Afdillah has denied any responsibility for the food items, saying he had received them from PT Suryajaya, a private company in Tangerang

"I have contacted them and they have admitted it was their fault," he said he told police.
