THAILAND: The authorities managed to clear red-shirted protesters from many areas on Monday afternoon, resulting in traffic resuming near Victory Monument and along nearby roads, Government spokesman Panithan Wattanayakorn said.

All roads from the Foreign Ministry to Phaya Thai intersection and to Victory Monument were now safe for motorists and people.

However the authorities are still trying to disperse the red shirts rallying near Yommarat express toll and Manangkasila Residence.

Referring to the gas truck that the protesters used to block a road in front of Din Daeng Flat in Din Daeng area, the spokesman said that the soldiers could now control the truck and chase away the protesters.

However the officials have yet to move the truck from the area. A television station reported that staff from the truck company had disabled the valve of the truck.
