Sri Lanka escapes war-crime probe

SRI Lanka has won a major diplomatic victory by scuttling Western hopes for a probe into alleged war crimes during its offensive against the Tamil Tigers.

Colombo rallied enough Asian support to commandeer a special session of the United Nations' Human Rights Council in Geneva, with its resolution praising the outcome of the war.
