President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono vowed Friday the government under his leadership would arrest the terrorists and masterminds responsible for the twin attacks on the JW Marriott and Ritz Carlton hotels in Jakarta that killed 9 and wounded 50.

"Those who carried out this attack, those who ordered the attacks, and the masterminds behind it will be arrested and tried according to the law," Yudhoyono said in a televised address to the nation.

Yudhoyono also gave strong warnings to the terrorists that the government under his leadership would get tough against them.

"Those who killed people in the past but escaped justice, this time, the state cannot allow that to happen," he said.

"Yudhoyono also added the bombing was carried out by a terrorist group, but said it was too early to say if it is the same network, Jemaah Islamiyah, who have been responsible for a series of bombings in Indonesia in recent years,.

Yudhoyono even showed pictures of a terrorist group conducting shooting exercise with using a picture of him as a target.

President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono has condemned the fatal blasts at two luxury hotel in Jakarta on early Friday morning, referring to the incident as a "despicable act of terror."

Yudhoyono, speaking in a live-to-air statement, said the attack has shaken the peaceful and secure conditions that have prevailed in Indonesia in the past several years.

"This action was taken by a few people who do not have sense of humanity and who do not care about our economy, our business climate, tourism and our image across the world," he said.

Yudhoyono said he was deeply concerned by the attack that has damaged Indonesia's growing economy and increasing stability.

The president instructed the police, the military and the State Intelligence Agency to investigate "quickly and thoroughly" and bring the culprits to justice.
