PAKISTAN - At least 14 persons were killed and 18 others were injured as a result of suspected suicide car bomb blast in front of CIA investigation cell in cantonment area of Peshawar, Pakistan on Friday (October 16) noon.
Security personnel at the blast site informed this scribe that before the car bomb blast, a suicide woman wearing a veil sitting on a motorbike with an armed terrorist tried to enter the police station but upon the resistance of police personnel the woman suicide bomber blew herself up.
On the other hand AIG bomb disposal squad rejected the notion that a woman wearing a veil blew herself up.
According to city police chief Liaqat Khan, the first suicide bomb blast also followed with a car bomb blast, which resulted in major casualties.
The intensity of the blast was so severe that it jolted the entire cantonment area. While a house near the limits and windowpanes of the nearby buildings were smashed to the ground. The blast occurred at such a time that the school children were also passing through this area.
The rescue teams and Edhi ambulances also reached the scene and soon after the explosion the dead bodies were shifted to Lady Reading Hospital in Peshawar, which also included three personnel of police and two women and school children.
Emergency was imposed in all of the three major hospitals of Peshawar, as there were reports that the Taliban might strike another target in cantonment area.
