The Depok administration in West Java said Sunday it would delay the implementation of the forced closure of karaoke clubs pending an investigation results from relevant municipality investigators.

"We are awaiting the investigation data from civil investigators," Depok Public Order Agency head Sariyo Sabani said, as quoted by tempointeraktif.com.

The investigators were collecting data to find out whether the managements of karaoke clubs had violated a bylaw, he said.

The Depok administration said earlier that it would shut down karaoke clubs since their establishment was not mentioned in a certain bylaw. The 2003 bylaw covering permits for tourism and recreational businesses is said to include, among other things, swimming pools, bowling alleys, billiard halls and movie theaters. However, there is no mention of karaoke clubs.

The administration also said the forced closure would happen on Sunday.
