NEW DELHI, INDIA - A young Muslim woman hailed as a national heroine in India for shooting dead a militant in Kashmir said on Tuesday that children should receive military training to take on "terrorists".

Ruksana Kausar, 22, last month grappled with three militants and killed one of them in Kashmir's Rajouri district after they forced their way into her family home and tried to abduct her.

She was given an honorary job in the police as a reward.

At a private function in New Delhi, Kausar said that children should be trained in combat so that they can "overcome fear and prepare themselves to take on the terrorists," the Press Trust of India reported.
