10,000 Chinese couples to wed in Thailand

Thailand on Wednesday welcomed reports that thousands of Chinese couples plan to hold their wedding parties in Thailand this year.

Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva said the events would certainly help boost tourism for Thailand and that between China and Thailand.

He conveyed the message during a meeting with Fe Juakhoo, president of foreign relation association of China who is visiting Thailand as a guest of Thai government between January 18 and 23.

The visit is also marking the 35th anniversary of the diplomatic relations between Thailand and China.

Abhisit told Mr Feng that Thailand is thankfulness that China conducted an honourable reception for HRH Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn whho visited Beijing on December 8 last year to receive "Chinese Connection - Top Ten International Friends" award.

The premier also hailed the excellent relationship between both countries which has been increased in political and economic aspects.

Feng was quoted as telling Abhisit that both countries plan to conduct many activities to celebrate the 35th anniversary of the mutual ties which will include tournaments of golf, badminton and rally from Bangkok to Bejing.
