Magnitude 5.0 quake rocks Mukomuko, Bengkulu

A 5.0-magnitude earthquake rocked Mukomuko, Bengkulu, early Saturday morning, following a string of quakes in the archipelago over the last week.

The earthquake happened at around 5 a.m, with the center located 47 kilometers southwest of the region, or 85 kilometers east of Pagai Selatan, Mentawai.

It posed no tsunami threat, the Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency website said.

A number of earthquakes occurred last week: One in Kebumen in Central Java, Gunung Sitoli in North Sumatra and Ende in West Nusa Tenggara.

The quakes were measured at 4.8-, 5.0- and 5.2- magnitudes respectively.
