MR Teo Eng Cheong, currently the Director-General of Singapore Customs, will be appointed the Chief Executive of the Competition Commission of Singapore (CCS) from Jan 1.
He will concurrently be appointed to the Board of CCS for a three-year term.
Mr Teo, 41, graduated from the National University of Singapore with an Honours Degree in Economics. He later obtained a Masters in Science from the London School of Economics and Political Science.
He first entered the public sector as an Economic Development Board officer, before joining the Monetary Authority of Singapore. He joined the Administrative Service in 2001, and he has held appointments in the Ministry of Community Development, Youth and Sports, and Singapore Customs under the Ministry of Finance.
'Under his leadership, Singapore Customs has developed into a dynamic organisation, constantly innovating risk management solutions to further facilitate trade,' said a statement from Ministry of Trade and Industry on Tuesday.
Mr Teo was awarded the Public Administration Medal (Silver) in 2006.
