HANGZHOU - G2000, a long-established fashion dealer in Hong Kong, has found it difficult to beat China brand 2000's legal charge that G2000 has infringed its trademark.
Last week, G2000, which was launched in Hong Kong in 1985, was ordered by a court in eastern China's Hangzhou to stop manufacturing and selling fashion accessories such as stockings, ties and belts under the G2000 brand on the mainland, Chinese media reported.
The items are found in the province where mainland businessman Zhao Hua registered his 2000 brand in 1997, ruled the court in Hangzhou, capital of Zhejiang province.
The G2000 label can be put only on bags and clothing for which it was registered in 1992 and re-registered in 1997, the court said.
The court also ordered G2000 to pay 20 million yuan (S$4 million) to Mr Zhao, a native of Hangzhou, for dealing in non-approved items, thereby infringing his brand.
