Asian shares are seen rising on Tuesday, following a rebound on Wall Street on Monday, while mining and energy companies could firm on stronger commodities and oil prices.

All the major US stock indexes rose by over 1 per cent on Monday, helped by strong results from IBM that eased some of the worries about the economy that hit markets last week.

KUALA LUMPUR
The Kuala Lumpur Composite Index rose 56.09 points to 9,875.39 points at the opening.

TOKYO
Japan's benchmark Nikkei average rose on Tuesday following overnight gains on Wall Street.

Softbank Corp led the gains after the Nikkei business daily reported that the telecom firm plans to offer free calls between its mobile phone subscribers and users of its Internet-based fixed-line phone service starting around April.

As of 8.01am Singapore time, the Nikkei was up 0.2 per cent at 14,134.91 and the broader Topix index was up 0.04 per cent at 1,378.14. -- REUTERS
