STI down 2% at midday

>Singapore stocks plunged on Wednesday with the benchmark Straits Times Index down 67.16 points, or 2.13 per cent, at 3,087.45 at midday.

The local market had little chance after Wall Street collapsed overnight on sub-prime and recession worries.

Some 1.1 billion shares changed hands. Losers beat gainers 626 to 143.
