Asian stocks rebound as US recession fears ease

KUALA LUMPUR

The Kuala Lumpur Composite Index rose 9.38 points, at 1,289.61 at the opening.

TOKYO

Japan's Nikkei average rose 0.8 per cent on Thursday after hitting a six-week closing low the previous day, led higher by exporters such as Honda Motor Co Ltd on easing concerns about a US recession and a stabilising yen.

As of 8.01am Singapore time, the benchmark Nikkei was up 96.83 points at 13,068.89.

The broader Topix index added 0.7 per cent or 8.98 points to 1,272.89. -- REUTERS
