>Singapore stocks opened higher with the benchmark Straits Times Index up 103.47 points, or 3.61 per cent, at 2,964.32, following a US stocks rally after the Federal Reserve said it would inject liquidity to help credit markets.

Up to 53.1 million shares exchanged hands. Gainers beat losers 198 to 14.

By 9.01am Singapore time, the index rose 4.0 per cent to 2,975.36 points, led by gains in financial stocks such as DBS Holdings and bourse operator Singapore Exchange.
