Wed, Mar 12, 2008
The Straits Times

SPH Search has forged a partnership with Yahoo! on Wednesday, where SPH Search's global web results will be powered by Yahoo! Search technology.

A partnership between Singapore Press Holdings (SPH) and Norwegian media group Schibsted ASA (Schibsted) and Yahoo!, it aims to improve the SPH search service with non-Singapore search information in its web search results for users.

'Our partnership with Yahoo! is a sign of our determination to make it as easy as possible for people to get exactly what they want,' said chief executive of SPH Search, Mr Paul Jansen.

SPH Search aims to give more accurate results and 'greater user-friendliness' to users through the collaboration, added Mr Jansen.

Mr Ken Mandel, vice president and managing director of Yahoo! Southeast Asia, agreed: 'Yahoo! is a recognisable brand and are leaders in providing search experiences to people worldwide.'

For SPH Search, this partnership supports efforts to work with partners in preparation for its launch in the first quarter of 2008.
