>TOKYO
Japan's Nikkei average slipped 0.9 per cent on Thursday, led lower by exporters such as Canon on a firmer yen and after worries about a weak economy sent the Dow industrials to their lowest close in three months.

As of 8.01am Singapore time, the benchmark Nikkei shed 128.11 points to 14,324.71. The broader TOPIX declined 0.9 per cent to 1,397.41. -- REUTERS
