PARIS - The OECD said on Friday that its indicator of leading signals for leading OECD economies pointed to a slowdown.

The indicator had fallen by half a point in May to 97.2 points and continued to show a weakening growth outlook for the leading OECD economies with the exception of Japan and Italy.

The indicator for the United States had fallen by 0.4 points, for the eurozone by 0.5 points, for Britain by 0.5 points, for Canada by 0.8 points, for France by 0.6 points, and for Germany by 0.4 points.

For Japan it rose by 0.5 points and for Italy by 0.2 points.

However, the most recent data for big economies outside the 30-nation area covered by the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development pointed to expansion of the Chinese economy.

The outlook for Brazil and India was slowing down. The Russian Federation seemed to be set for continuing growth, the OECD said.
