>WASHINGTON, USA - THE US economy expanded at an annualised 1.9 per cent pace in the second quarter of the year, marking an improvement from the prior quarter, a government report showed on Thursday.
US economic momentum picked up from a revised 0.9 per cent rate in the first three months of the year, but second-quarter growth fell short of the 2.3 per cent forecast by most economists.
Analysts said a giant economic stimulus, worth around US$168 billion (S$230 billion), and exports had helped stoke growth during the second quarter.
