KUALA LUMPUR

Share prices on Bursa Malaysia were lower in early trade, reversing earlier gains following overnight losses on Wall Street, dealers said.

The benchmark Composite Index fell 6.40 points as at 9.19 am to 1,156.69 after opening 3.74 points lower at 1,159.35 as fresh selling mainly in bluechips dominated trade while lower liners saw renewed buying interest.

TOKYO

Japanese share prices fell 2.21 per cent in morning trade Friday after an overnight slump on Wall Street on slower than expected US economic growth and a rise in weekly jobless claims, dealers said.

The Tokyo Stock Exchange's benchmark Nikkei-225 index slid 295.88 points to 13,080.93 by the lunch break. The broader Topix index of all first-section shed 31.67 points or 2.43 per cent to 1,271.95. -- AFP
