>SINGAPORE shares started lower on Friday, after a weak closing on Wall Street overnight.

The key Straits Times Index lost 35.3 points or 1.2 per cent to 2,894.35. In the broader market, losers beat gainers 106 to 28 in a volume of 17 million shares.
