S'pore's growth at lower end
Tue, Aug 26, 2008
Reuters

>SINGAPORE'S economy will grow at the lower end of the government's 4-5 percent forecast for 2008, trade minister Lim Hng Kiang said on Tuesday.

'Singapore expects to grow between four and five percent, and probably we may end up at the lower end of that range,' Mr Lim told journalists at a briefing, reiterating the government's existing forecast.

Mr Lim's comments come as the city-state said July factory output unexpectedly fell 1.8 per cent after seasonal adjustments from June, as the economic slowdown in the United States and Europe continues to hit Asian exporters. -- REUTERS
