STI drops 2.8% at opening

SINGAPORE shares opened lower with the benchmark Straits Times Index (STI) down 68.59 points, or 2.84 per cent, at 2,417.96.

Up to 34.3 million shares exchanged hands.

Losers beat gainers 165 to 12.
