>SINGAPORE shares remained higher at midday as US Democrat Barack Obama was voted in as the next US president. The Straits Times Index (STI) was up 80.76 points, or 4.41 per cent, at 1,910.45.

Around 1.5 billion shares exchanged hands.

Gainers beat losers 395 to 104.
