Tokyo stocks open down 1.26 percent

>TOKYO, JAPAN - Japan's Nikkei stock index fell 1.26 percent at the opening on Tuesday amid intensifying fears of a global recession.

The benchmark index lost 106.98 points to 8,415.60 in the first minute of trading.
