Nikkei opens flat

>TOKYO - JAPAN'S Nikkei stock index opened almost unchanged on Wednesday after an overnight rise on Wall Street, falling 7.79 points or 0.09 per cent to 8,320.62 in the first few minutes of trading.

The benchmark index fell 18.05 points or 0.22 per cent to 8,310.36 in the first 10 minutes of trading. The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 1.83 per cent on Tuesday as investors swung between Hewlett-Packard's upbeat outlook and the depressing economic climate. -- AFP
