STI closes 3.02% lower

>SINGAPORE shares closed lower on Tuesday with the benchmark Straits Times Index (STI) down 51.05 points, or 3.02 per cent, at 1,639.18.

Up to 749.8 million shares exchanged hands.

Losers beat gainers 253 to 149.
