European stock markets close down

>LONDON, Dec 19, 2008 (AFP) - European stock markets closed down on Friday, with London's FTSE 100 index down 1.01 percent at 4,286.93 points.

In Paris, the CAC 40 ended 0.26 percent lower at 3,225.90 points, while the Frankfurt Dax plunged 1.26 percent to close at 4,696.70 points.
