STI higher at midday

SINGAPORE shares were higher at midday Wednesday, with the benchmark Straits Times Index up 26.23 points, or 1.77 per cent, to 1,511.98.

About 643 million shares were traded until the break.

Gainers beat losers 195 to 112.
