Tokyo stocks open lower; STI opens higher

TOKYO - JAPANESE share prices opened slightly lower Monday, with the benchmark Nikkei-225 index falling 23.41 points or 0.29 per cent to 7,922.55 in the first few minutes of trading. -- AFP

STI opens higher

SINGAPORE - SINGAPORE shares opened higher on Monday with the benchmark Straits Times Index up 15.83 points, or 0.99 per cent, to 1,612.75.

About 85.5 million shares were traded.

Gainers beat losers 84 to 46.
