SHANGHAI - Chinese shares closed down 0.41 percent on Thursday due to profit taking after four consecutive sessions of gains, dealers said.

The Shanghai Composite Index, which covers A and B shares, was down 11.35 points to 2,767.24 on turnover of 179.5 billion yuan (S$37.9 billion).

The Shanghai A-share index fell 11.91 points, or 0.41 per cent, to 2,904.74 on turnover of 179.0 billion yuan, while the Shenzhen A-share index rose 0.37 points, or 0.04 per cent, to 967.71 on turnover of 83.3 billion yuan. -AFP
