Japanese shares close up 0.43 percent

TOKYO - Tokyo share prices eked out a 0.43 percent gain on Wednesday but remained under pressure from a stronger yen and uncertainty surrounding Japan's economic recovery.

The benchmark Nikkei index edged up 40.06 points to 9,441.64, and the broader Topix index of all first-section shares added 4.07 points, or 0.49 percent, to 833.29.
