STI lower at midday

SINGAPORE shares were lower at midday on Thursday, with the benchmark Straits Times Index at 2,778.88, down 0.50 per cent, or 13.96 points.

About 633 million shares exchanged hands.

Losers beat gainers 193 to 151.
