S'pore shares soft at start

SINGAPORE - Stocks opened weaker on Tuesday following a fall on Wall Street amid heightened concerns about the euro zone's sovereign debt troubles.

The key Straits Times Index was down 18.01 points or 0.67 per cent at 2,675.61. In the broader market, losers beat gainers 8 to 1 in a volume of 44.4 million shares valued at $32.1 million.

Top decliners included Jardine C&C, SIA, Hyflux, DBS, Wilmar and OCBC.
