TOKYO, JAPAN - Japan's Nikkei stock average rose 0.8 percent on Wednesday after reports of an aid plan for heavily indebted Greece relieved worries about global economic stability, while a weaker yen buoyed exporters such as Canon Inc.

Toyota Motor Corp edged up 0.2 percent to 3,380 yen after the automaker said on Tuesday it would recall thousands of Camry sedans as well as nearly half a million new Prius and other hybrid cars to fix steering and braking problems.

The benchmark Nikkei gained 86.33 points to 10,018.23, while the broader Topix rose 0.7 percent to 887.26. --REUTERS
