Governor of California Arnold Schwarzenegger plans to take KTX, Korea's bullet train this month as part of his trade mission to Asia, officials at San Francisco and Daejeon said.
The governor's KTX ride will offer business opportunities for Korean companies and agencies to export the country's first homegrown bullet train KTX-II. California plans to build its own high-speed train network.
Schwarzenegger is scheduled to visit Korea, Japan and China from September 9 to 15.
The planned visit by the actor-turned-governor to Korea is aimed at strengthening economic and trade ties.
The former Hollywood actor, famous for his title role in the "Terminator" series, will meet President Lee Myung-bak and Gyeonggi governor Kim Moon-soo, as well as some corporate heads including Hyundai Motor Group chairman Chung Mong-koo, according to reports.
"The exact schedule of Arnold Schwarzenegger has not been set," said an official at the Korean embassy in San Francisco.
"His visit to South Korea is aimed at improving trade deals as well as taking full advantage to evaluate its capability of constructing a high-speed railway system," he added.
