Glenn Ong down with dengue fever

Listeners were told that the radio jock was sick but no details were given of his absence from work since Jan 4.

Yesterday, the 37-year-old told The Straits Times Life! that he had contracted the deadly disease.

Ong, who hosts the popular yet sometimes controversial Morning Express with The Flying Dutchman, spent three days in hospital last week.

He has been discharged and is recovering at home.

"I've never felt so sick, I really thought I was dying," he said.

Ong had even bled from his nose.

The National Environment Agency sent staff to his home in the east but found no evidence of mosquitoes breeding there.

Ong speculated that he may have been bitten when he visited a nursery to buy plants.

Ong expects to return to work on Jan 28.

He said "I miss being on radio. I can't wait to fully recover to go on air again".
